Microneedling

SkinPen Precision Microneedling

SkinPen precision microneedling, known as collagen induction therapy (CIT) is an FDA approved, non-surgical procedure for skin rejuvenation used for treating lines, wrinkles, UV damage, hyperpigmentaion, loss of skin thickness and acne scaring.

Results are similar to laser resurfacing but without the thermal heat, meaning it is a safer to use on all skin types with minimal risk of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

The purpose of skin rejuvenation is to restore skin back to optimum health. Ensuring skin not only looks younger but in fact behaves younger.

SkinPen precision is a mechanised pen which contains 14 microscopic needles used to puncture the skin, creating a controlled micro injury. This controlled micro injury triggers a rejuvenation process that stimulates fibroblast cells and growth factors to repair the skin with the production of new collagen. It can be used to treat the face, neck and body.

During the treatment, you may experience some mild discomfort however it is tolerable and kept to a minimum, with comfort levels checked throughout the treatment. After the treatment your skin will be red, flushed in appearance, feel warm, tight and dry, similar to moderate sunburn. This can remain for up to 12 hours after the treatment. However after 18 hrs, all micro channels are closed and your skin will give a healthy glow. Healthy effects of collagen production from SkinPen precision continue for up one year after your last session.

Because of its ability to normalise skin function and improve cell to cell communication, microneedling can be used to correct a variety of conditions and concerns

  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Loose/ saggy skin
  • UV damage
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Thinned skin
  • Scars/ acne scars
  • Vascular rosacea

It is recommend to have a course of 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks, dependant on individual concerns, a full treatment plan would be advised at consultation. To get the best results from a microneedling treatment it is important to complete the full recommended course, as results are accumulative.
